Position Details Job Posting – Secondary Foreign Language Teacher (Spanish Preferred) Position: Secondary Foreign Language Teacher (Spanish Preferred) Location: Mio-AuSable Middle/High School Reports To: Secondary Principal Status: MEA Union Position Start Date: 2025-2026 School Year Deadline: Until filled About the Position Mio-AuSable School District is seeking a passionate and student-centered Secondary Foreign Language Teacher to join our middle/high school team. While preference will be given to candidates with a Spanish endorsement, we will consider all applicants certified to teach a world language. The successful candidate will create a positive, engaging classroom environment that supports language acquisition, cultural understanding, and prepares students for success in an increasingly global society. Qualifications Valid Michigan teaching certificate with a World Language endorsement (Spanish preferred; multiple endorsements a plus). Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution. Demonstrated success working with adolescents and diverse learners. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with staff, students, parents, and the community. Prior teaching experience in secondary world languages preferred. Must pass required background checks (criminal history and Livescan fingerprinting). Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver engaging world language instruction aligned to state standards and district curriculum. Foster a classroom culture that encourages curiosity, respect, and active participation. Assess student learning and provide timely feedback to students, parents, and administrators. Collaborate with colleagues on instructional strategies and school improvement goals. Incorporate technology and innovative teaching methods to enhance student learning. Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and grades. Support a safe and positive classroom environment through effective classroom management. Participate in professional learning, staff meetings, and parent communication as required. Desired Skills & Attributes Commitment to building positive relationships with students.
