CCPN Director of Research

Job Summary

Responsible for planning and execution of research and evaluation activities. Oversee, collaborate and conduct scientific research and evaluation and assist in special projects with funders, annual report, scholarly activities, data, extraction, analysis, preparation and formatting; collection and analysis of research and evaluation data (development of tools, qualitative and quantitative, feedback mechanisms. Required Education and Experience A terminal degree (PhD or similar) in area of specialty and five years post-graduate experience. Preferred Qualifications Possess at least 10 years of experience in public health research and evaluation with some experience in colorectal cancer prevention. Proven experience in grant and scholarly writing, program and partnership development. Possesses experience in human resources management and supervision. Willingness to travel extensively across the state and nationally. Ability to work evening, weekends, and remotely as necessary. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Recognized experience in organizational leadership Known experience in organizational management of programs and research activities. Preferred experience in public health and/or clinical research. Proven experience in decision-making abilities, procedure development and implementation Knowledge of IRB and HIPAA compliance and consent process with the ability to handle confidential or sensitive information with discretion Proven Analytical and critical-thinking skills with the ability to handle multiple programs and meet tight deadlines Job Duties Job Duty Research Oversight Oversee, collaborate and conduct scientific research and evaluation and assist in special projects with funders, annual reports, scholarly activities, data, extraction, analysis, preparation and formatting; collection and analysis of research and evaluation data (development of tools, qualitative and quantitative, feedback mechanisms,) Lead reporting and product development activities; and support research and evaluation capacity building among internal program staff and program partners. Foster, develop and demonstrate ongoing agenda for research, scholarly and creative activities by having works-in-progress, grant applications submitted, and scholarly articles written. Interacts with researchers, health systems representatives, physicians and quality improvement personnel Collaborates with the Executive Director and other academic investigators in the development and implementation of research studies/protocols that aim to advance our understanding of factors that influence CRC diagnosis and/or participation in prevention screening. Produce and publish both scholarly and news-oriented articles as dictated by the Executive Director; on average at least two refereed scholarly publications per year. Identify, attend, present, and assist in presentations and abstracts submission at national, regional and/or state conferences. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 40 Job Duty Strategic Advancement Directs and manages CCPN research activities that align with CCPNs mission and vision. Oversee, develop and assess ongoing research opportunities and report to the Executive Director and Operations Director. Collaborates with the Executive Director and Operations Director in the development of the CCPNs strategic direction and identifying new sources of extramural funding streams that are aligned with the objectives, goals and mission of the CCPN. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 30 Job Duty Development Serve as the liaison with various cancer organizations such SC Cancer Alliance, the American Cancer Society, the Colon Cancer Alliance, the Southeast Colorectal Cancer Consortium, the National Colorectal Cancer Roundtable, CDC, other state and national organizations that align with the mission of the CCPN. Provides recommendations to the Executive Director on effective solutions to address barriers, issues and complaints pertaining to the implementation of research activities. Fosters donor development and implements cultivation strategies to ensure ongoing funding opportunities and resources.
