Job Description The School of Professional Studies is seeking an adjunct instructor to develop and teach a course in Digital Health online in a semester-based format geared toward graduate students in the Precision Medicine Certificate. Instructors will add their subject matter expertise and real-world examples as part of the course development process and will partner with a senior course designer who has a PhD in instructional technology and who is responsible for the back-end development. The instructor will play an important role in the continuous improvement and overall success of the course. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Work with assigned course designer to develop content (assignments, presentations, readings, discussion boards, quizzes, exams) as needed. Develop and provide students with an approved syllabus that includes course objectives and learning outcomes, teaching methodology, attendance policies in line with those of the School, texts and readings, assignments and deliverables, timelines, and evaluation criteria. Deliver course instruction online in the fall semester, using the University learning management system and digital tools. Uses the University’s learning management system to post syllabus, assignments, and other materials and to communicate with students. Advise and assist students through office hours or scheduled appointments, by video conference, phone or email, and through other University-approved mechanisms. Provide service, including student mentoring, ongoing course development, and collaboration towards the Precision Medicine Certificate. Maintain communication with the Assistant Dean, identifying any students of concern and relaying student progress. Maintain an online presence in course as directed by the Program Coordinator, including answering student emails promptly, participating in interactive course elements where necessary. Ensure the course meets the high-quality standards of other MCPHS online and on-campus courses. Identify tactics to improve the course based on feedback. Support incorporation of diversity, equity and inclusion into the curriculum. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor. Requirements Required Advanced degree in digital health or healthcare field required Previous experience teaching and/or developing online courses to graduate students entering health professions Previous experience in the digital health field Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills A commitment to student success and the ability to engage and motivate students in an online format Must be able to work independently and effectively interact with a wide array of parties at all levels (students, faculty, administration/staff, alumni, and external constituents).
