Brief Summary of Work for this Position The Department of Computer Science within the College of Sciences and Engineering at the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW), seeks an outstanding faculty member for a nine-month, full-time, renewable non-tenure-track position at the rank of Lecturer of Computer Science beginning August 10, 2026.Duties include teaching in the undergraduate and graduate programs offered by the Department of Computer Science, with a focus on the BS in Computer Science, BS in Software Engineering and the BS in Intelligent Systems Engineering. Online teaching may be required for the position. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Master’s degree or other terminal post-graduate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering or closely related field with at least 18 hours of graduate coursework closely related to the discipline prior to the time of employment to be eligible for employment. Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience Preference will be given to candidates who have the following qualifications: Teaching experience in the areas of computer science, software engineering, or intelligent systems engineering. Previous teaching experience at the undergraduate level. Required Certifications or Licensure No Required Certificate or Licensure. Primary Function of Organizational Unit The Department of Computer Science offers the following degree programs: a B.S. in Computer Science, a B.S. in Intelligent Systems Engineering, a B.S. in Software Engineering an interdisciplinary B.S. in Cybersecurity, an interdisciplinary B.A. in Digital Arts, an interdisciplinary B.S in Information Technology, an interdisciplinary M.S. in Computer Science and Information Systems, and an interdisciplinary M.S. in Data Science. undergraduate minors in Game Engineering, Digital Arts, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, and Computer Science The Computer Science Department currently has twenty-nine full-time faculty members (http://uncw.edu/csc).
