OverviewCatholic Charities of Buffalo has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Nutrition Assistant at our Niagara Falls, NY office within our Nutritional Health program. The individual will join a diverse group of experienced professionals who are committed to our core mission, vision, and values. Our agency aims for inclusivity, compassion, and empowerment while celebrating diversity and life experiences to help our clients live healthier, happier lives.This position is 28 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 8:45 AM to 4:45 PM, except on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month, when the hours are 11 AM to 7 PM.Catholic Charities is a non-profit organization that offers an array of programs that strive to empower individuals, children, and families. Catholic Charities of Buffalo, NY, is the most comprehensive human service provider serving the eight counties of Western New York with dozens of programs at 40+ professionally staffed locations. Our programs include comprehensive counseling services for all ages, basic emergency assistance including operating 8 food pantries, mental health services, chemical dependency treatment, educational and job readiness services, services to older adults, marriage counseling, immigration and refugee assistance, and a variety of programs that address prevention and treatment of a number of family issues. We strive to provide HOPE for all seasons.Job ResponsibilitiesProvide clinic and office support to the Nutrition Staff.Assist participants with WIC Health online nutrition education.Provide Participant Centered Nutrition Services (PCNS) by phone or in person.Set the tone for excellent customer service to participants as they enter the clinic.Orient/educate participants about the WIC program.Make appointment reminders and no-show calls.Participate in National Voter Registration Activities.Collect information for the nutrition assessment process, including income eligibility, review of WIC Medical Referral Form and other documents.Obtain anthropometric (heights and weights) and hematological (bloodless iron level), as trained. Maintain quality control logs.Participate in breastfeeding promotion and support.Provide and document referrals to health and social services other community partners.Identify and refer participants to a Nutrition Staff.Attends staff meetings, Catholic Charities, NYWIC, and NYSDOH trainings.Assist Customer Service Representatives with phone duties as needed.Comply with the Agency's Compliance Program, Code of Ethics, laws, regulations, and ethical standards applicable to your position in the WIC program and Catholic Charities.Travels to all sites, and transports laptops, computers, and other equipment to sites.May have to lift up to 30lbs.Performs other duties as assigned.Minimum QualificationsHigh School Diploma or equivalentBasic Computer Skills.
