Description This position is located at the New Bolton Center in Kennett Square, PA (Chester County) which is approximately 33 miles outside of Philadelphia. Please note that no public transportation is available at this location.This position will be in charge of process quality control, equipment, project/grant coordination, and inventory control. This position will also supply back-up coverage for the Manheim Field Office courier rotation for the Microbiology/PEQAP laboratories.Job responsibilities include:Diagnostic microbiology (aerobic and anaerobic bacterial cultures, fungal cultures, antimicrobial susceptibility testing, toxin testing, data entry and serological assays)Inventory controlProcess Quality Control of equipment, reagents, programs, test kits, media for daily, weekly and monthly QC programs, proficiency test coordination, audits for AAVLD certification and GLP requirements, new employee trainingResearch and grant program/project coordination: Acquiring, testing, performance, follow-up, data processing, reportingNew test and equipment validation and verificationPerform additional duties as assigned/ Manheim Field Office rotational coverageThis position is contingent upon grant funded.QualificationsResearch Specialist BBachelor of Science Degree and 2 to 3 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.Research Specialist CBachelor of Science Degree and 3-5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. 7 -10 years of relevant experience is preferred.Working Conditions & Physical Effort:Occasional lifting 25-50 lbs; Typically standing or walking; Intermittently sitting/standing/stooping; Using tools requiring high dexterity; Requires extensive safety training; Alternative work schedules; Requires protective devices Job Location - City, StateKennett Square, PennsylvaniaDepartment / SchoolSchool of Veterinary MedicinePay RangeSalary offers are made based on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, and in alignment with salary ranges based on external market data for the job’s level.
