About the Role:This is a full-time, entry-level opportunity for high school graduates or individuals beginning their careers in civil engineering, construction, or related fields. As a CEI Inspector, you will receive hands-on training in construction inspection practices, materials testing, documentation, and quality assurance—ensuring projects are built to design specifications, codes, and safety standards.What you’ll be doing:Perform on-site construction inspections under the guidance of experienced engineers or senior inspectorsMonitor and document contractor activities to ensure compliance with project plans and specificationsMeasure, record, and report materials and quantities used on siteTake photographs, maintain field logs, and generate daily inspection reportsCommunicate with contractors, project managers, and engineers to resolve field issuesLearn and apply relevant construction codes, safety standards, and quality control proceduresTravel to and from project sites (day trips and occasional overnight stays required)What you need to have:High school diploma or GED18 years of ageInterest in civil construction, infrastructure, or engineering-related workWillingness to work in a field environment, often outdoors and in variable weather conditionsStrong attention to detail and ability to follow technical instructionsPhysical ability to stand, walk, lift, and perform manual tasks on active construction sitesStrong work ethic, dependability, and a positive attitude toward learningAbility to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana.
