Responsibilities: Successfully completes 30 Hours Training and qualifies with NIOSH 582 certification Prepares and analyzes Air samples for Asbestos fibers Completes all sample analyses accurately and report the results in a timely manner Performs Data Entry accurately and efficiently as required Maintains and calibrates microscope to ensure accuracy Performs and remains current in all QA/QC practices in accordance with the company QA/QC manual Assumes responsibility for safety in the work area, reports all safety problems and violations of safety SOP’s to the Technical Manager Participates in departmental meetings and training seminars when scheduled Successfully completes a 1 year evaluation as scheduled with Technical Director Maintains highest standards of accuracy (Minimum of 95%) in identifying difficult samples Establishes and maintains good working relationships with co-workers and performs effectively in a team environment Maintains professional attendance and punctuality for scheduled shifts Performs all duties assigned by the Supervisor Successfully completes 6 Months On-the-Job training with Technical Director Prepares and analyzes bulk samples for Asbestos and non-Asbestos contents using PLM Microscopy Meets or exceeds expected performance of analyzing an Average of 6 Samples per hour Performs all duties as assigned by the supervisor Qualifications: A Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required. (Science, Geology or Biology major is preferred) PLM experience is highly desirable. Will be trained for the position Some lab experience is required Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills The ability to work well in a team environment Good organizational skills and the ability to multi task Requires a strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy Must be willing and able to work some weekends and overtime when necessary to meet business demands Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Ability to lift, push, pull and carry up to 30 pounds Visual acuity to read, to determine color, depth perception and field of vision Dexterity to write, grasp objects and perform simple arithmetic calculations Ability to stand for sustained periods of time, sit, climb stairs, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach and walk without assistance Ability to conduct repetitive motions using hands, wrists and fingers Ability to talk and hear at normal speaking levels Ability to use fingers to pick up, pinch and type on a keyboard without assistance
