Clinical Insurance Case Manager Responsibilities You'll Love:

  • Verify insurance benefits for incoming patients, ensuring coverage for skilled nursing and rehabilitation services.
  • Retrieve and secure authorizations for post-acute care, working closely with insurance providers and hospital case managers.
  • Conduct utilization reviews (UR) to assess medical necessity and ensure compliance with payer guidelines.
  • Manage and escalate appeals for denied authorizations, working to overturn denials and secure approvals.
  • Collaborate with admissions teams to streamline the patient intake process and avoid delays in placement.
  • Track and follow up on pending authorizations and appeals to prevent lapses in coverage.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and communicate benefits details to internal teams.
  • Problem-solve and escalate issues as needed to facilitate approvals and resolve payer-related challenges.

What We Look For: 

  • Strong background in insurance verification, utilization review (UR), case management, and appeals within a skilled nursing or hospital setting.
  • Expertise in Medicare, Medicaid, HMOs, and commercial insurance plans.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, juggling multiple authorizations, reviews, and appeals with speed and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication skills for working with internal teams and external providers.
  • Proficiency in EMR systems, insurance portals, and appeals documentation.
