Responsibilities Performs preventative maintenance (PM) inspections on light & medium duty vehicles/equipment and assists higher classification of technicians with PM’s on all vehicles and equipment.Performs required State emission inspections.Assists with Federal DOT inspections.Adheres to all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR) for DOT inspections.Provides assistance on dielectric test inspections.Performs diagnostics and repairs on light and medium vehicles, (gas & diesel) forklifts, trailers, and powered equipment.Maintains the appropriate level of technical competence required to diagnose and repair vehicles/equipment. Performs hydraulic brake systems and component repairs.Assists with hydraulic component repairs.Assists with air brake system inspections and repairs.Assists higher classification of technicians with diagnostics and repairs on all vehicles/equipment.Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and repairs basic electric system components, cranking, lighting, charging and assist with basic A/C systems and component repairs.Basic/Required Qualifications:Vehicle Maintenance Technician ITwo-year associate degree or certificate in auto, diesel, or heavy equipment mechanics from a vocational school.In addition to required education above, one (1) year minimum of related experience.In lieu of the required education, high school diploma AND two (2) years minimum of related experience.Vehicle Maintenance Technician IITwo-year associate degree or certificate in auto, diesel, or heavy equipment mechanics from a vocational schoolIn addition to required education above, two (2) years minimum of related experience.In lieu of the required education, high school diploma AND three (3) years minimum of related experience.Desired/Preferred QualificationsElectric Utility Fleet ExperienceBasic Hydraulic ExperienceASE CertificationsAWS Welding CertificationsEffective communication (both written and oral) and interpersonal skillsDemonstrate ability to interact effectively with peers, customers, and managementDemonstrate ability to make sound decisions, exercising good judgement and setting prioritiesDemonstrate the ability to work independently with minimal supervisionExperience with computer equipment, laptops, keyboard, tablets, etc.
