Summary: Reporting to the Director of Allied Health Services, the Clinical Psychologist provides direct clinical services in the growing university clinic that serves the mental health needs of the local deaf and hard of hearing community, contributing to the cross-unit collaborations within the Psychology Department and Speech Language Pathology/Audiology Clinics. Job Description: Provides direct client services in the Gallaudet University Allied Health Services, which include diagnostic intakes, psychological and/or neuropsychological assessment, and psychotherapy based upon competence and client availability.Contributes to the ongoing development of the clinic through developing and/or providing feedback on relevant policies and procedures.Participates in ongoing continued education as relevant to clinical work and maintaining DC licensure.Provides psychotherapy services to the clients through individual, group, couples, and family therapy; and conducts initial intake interviews and evaluations.Provides psychological assessment and diagnostic services to the clients; and administers and interprets tests which are used for the purpose of diagnosis of mental disorders and learning disabilities.Completes clinical and administrative documentation in an accurate, legal, and timely manner.Engages in crisis intervention and prevention; participates in the emergency on-call system; and provides referrals to psychiatrists, hospitals, and other referral agencies as needed.Provides consultation for community agencies, parents, and other individuals on topics of mental health with deaf individuals; and presents at conferences, workshops and training seminars for community groups.Assists in the planning, development, and coordination of local, national, and international mental health workshops, conferences, conventions, and symposia sponsored by the department or University.Keeps abreast of developments and research in psychological assessment, counseling, mental health issues, educational issues, and other related areas; continues own professional development by participating in continuing education programs; and maintains active memberships in professional organizations.Establishes and maintains a positive and supportive working relationship with co-workers and supervisors.Demonstrates a genuine commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace and participates in activities and workshops to foster continuous learning.Serves as a mandatory reporter under Title IX; and commits to completing Title IX training and other compliance requirements on an annual basis.Prioritizes safety in the workplace as a collective responsibility for the well-being of employees and fosters a culture of safety that is integral to our success, including strict adherence to safety procedures and protocols, as well as promptly reporting any safety hazards or incidents. Performs related and other duties as needed.Required Qualifications:Doctoral degree.A minimum of two years of professional experience with psychological services, mental health counseling, or a related field. Preferred Qualifications:Ability to communicate in American Sign Language.Experience working in a clinic setting.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesStrong ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary research team and carry out tasks autonomously.Demonstrated experience conducting research with human participantsDemonstrated psychology teaching experience.Demonstrated ability to work with and across university departments, outside constituents and groups.Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.Additional Position Details:This is a revenue-funded regular status position with access to full benefits. This is a three-year appointment and reappointment is contingent on satisfactory performance.The incumbent is expected to obtain the licensure as a Psychologist in the District of Columbia within one year of employment.
