N=Local 10-, 11- or 12-mo? 12-months JOBSUMMARY & PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS REPORTS TO: Foreman DEPARTMENT NAME: Facility and Grounds Maintenance JOB SUMMARY (2-3 sentences): Within the policies of the Board ofEducation supervises and performs the work of a general maintenance mechanicand landscaping work as needed for the Board of Public Education. PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS: List, inthe order of time spent, the essential tasks performed by the position. Employees may be assigned additional dutiesby management as required: Job Responsibility 1: Carries out work orders assigned and oversees work crew. Assures the work being done is of excellent quality. Job Responsibility 2: Oversees and performs the work of a general maintenance mechanic and landscaping worker. Job Responsibility 3: Establishes and maintains working relationships with others Job Responsibility 4: Organizes and prioritizes workflow to ensure tasks are complete within scheduled timeframes. Job Responsibility 5: Plans for supplies needed by work crews to complete tasks. Job Responsibility 6: May provide foreman input regarding work crew member’s performance evaluations. Job Responsibility 7: Job Responsibility 8: GENERALRESPONSIBILITIES, REQUIREMENTS, AND IMPACTS DATARESPONSIBILITY : “ DataResponsibility” refers to information, knowledge, and conceptions obtained byobservation, investigation, interpretation, visualization, and mentalcreation. Requiresresponsibility and opportunity for achieving considerable economies and/orpreventing considerable losses through the management of a large division orminor department, and/or handling of very large amounts of money. MATHEMATICALREQUIREMENTS : “ Mathematics”deals with quantities, magnitudes, and forms and their relationships andattributes by the use of numbers and symbols. Usesaddition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; may compute ratios, rates,and percentages. COMMUNICATIONSREQUIREMENTS : “ Communications”involves the ability to read, write, and speak. Readstechnical instructions, charts, and/or procedures manuals; composes routinereports and completes job forms; speaks compound sentences using standardgrammar. COMPLEXITY OFWORK : “ Complexityof Work” addresses the analysis, initiative, ingenuity, creativity, andconcentration required by the position and the presence of any unusualpressures. Performsskilled work involving rules/systems with almost constant problem solving;requires normal attention with short periods of concentration for accurateresults and occasional exposure to unusual pressure. IMPACT OF DECISIONS : “ Impact ofDecisions” refers to consequences such as damage to property, loss of data orproperty, exposure of the organization to legal liability, or injury or deathto individuals. Makesdecisions with serious impact - affects most units in organization, and mayaffect citizens; probability of loss of life and/or damage are likely. EQUIPMENT USAGE : “EquipmentUsage” refers to inanimate objects such as substances, materials, machines,tools, equipment, work aids, or products. A thing is tangible and has shape, form, and other physicalcharacteristics. Leadsor handles machines, tools, equipment, or work aids involving moderate latitude for judgment regardingattainment of standard or in selecting appropriate items. SAFETY OF OTHERS : “ Safety of Others”refers to the responsibility for other people’s safety, either inherent in thejob or to assure the safety of the general public. Requiresconsiderable responsibility for the safety and health of others and/orcontinuous enforcement of the laws and standards of public health and safety. EDUCATION ANDEXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS EDUCATIONREQUIREMENTS : “ EducationRequirements” refers to job specific training and education required for entryinto the position. Requireshigh school diploma or GED. LICENSES,CERTIFICATIONS, AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED : “ Licenses,Certifications, and Registrations” refers to professional, state, or federallicenses, certifications, or registrations required to enter the position. Requiresvalid driver’s license. EXPERIENCEREQUIREMENTS : “ ExperienceRequirements” refers to the amount of work experience that is required forentry into the position that would result in reasonable expectation that theperson can perform the tasks required by the position. Fiveyears’ experience in increasingly responsible general building maintenance andtree and landscaping trade. Knowledgeof the standard practices, tools and equipment of the general maintenancetrade; landscaping, tree and shrubberywork; and applicable building codes is required. Experience leading the work ofothers is preferred. Morespecific degree, certification, and experience requirements will be included inthe position announcement as vacancies occur. AMERICANS WITHDISABILITIES REQUIREMENTS PHYSICAL DEMANDS :“ Physical Demands” refers to the requirements forphysical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement. Requiresheavy work involving exerting up to 100 pounds of force on a frequent basis andexceptional dexterity and skill in operating machinery, tools, or equipment. UNAVOIDABLEHAZARDS : “ UnavoidableHazards” refers to unusual conditions in the work environment that may causeillness or injury. Theposition is exposed to extreme heat/cold, wet or humid conditions, bright/dimlights, intense noise levels, vibration, fumes or noxious odors, movingmechanical parts, electrical shock, traffic, and toxic or caustic chemicals. SENSORY (ADA)REQUIREMENTS : “ SensoryRequirements” refers to hearing, sight, touch, taste, and smell necessary to performthe tasks required by the position efficiently.
