Description ****Applicants seeking short-term or part-time work with the University Hawai'i may apply for Casual Hire positions, which include administrative, professional, and technical (APT) or instructional-type positions. Because of the temporary nature of these appointments, Casual Hire employees are not eligible for most benefits as provided to regular BOR and Civil Service employees such as paid leave and holidays. Casual Hire appointments may last for up to 89 days for full-time employees, and up to 1 calendar year for part-time employees.Title: Casual Hire – Assistant Women’s Tennis Coach – Data and Performance AnalysisHiring Unit: UHM AthleticsLocation: Women’s Tennis ProgramDate Posted: December 3, 2025Closing:  December 6, 2025Full Time / Part Time: Part TimeOther Conditions: Position is a temporary casual hire position and offers no benefits, hours not to exceed 19.75 hours per week.Duties and Responsibilities:Assists with analytical aspects of the NCAA Division I Women’s Tennis Program, including match data collection, player performance analysis, statistical modeling of outcomes, contest scheduling optimization, compliance reporting, and quantitative evaluation of student-athlete academic achievement.Participates in practices and competitions by providing real-time statistical feedback, match charting, and performance metrics analysis. Use mathematical tools to evaluate shot selection, error rates, serve effectiveness, and strategic tendencies.Develops data-driven strategies to foster a positive and competitive team environment by identifying trends in sportsmanship, focus, and performance consistency.Contributes to maintaining student-athlete well-being by using quantitative tracking methods (e.g., workload monitoring, recovery statistics, and time management efficiency).Assists with recruiting by creating statistical profiles of potential prospects, analyzing historical performance data, and evaluating both academic and athletic metrics to ensure long-term success.Supports the academic progress of student-athletes by applying mathematical skills to study plans, time allocation models, and progress-tracking tools to promote academic eligibility, retention, and graduation success rates.Maintains confidentiality of sensitive data, including student-athlete academic and performance records, in compliance with University of Hawai‘i policies and federal/state regulations.Participates in program promotion by presenting statistical insights to media, donors, and stakeholders, highlighting the competitive advantage of data-driven coaching.Collaborates with the head coach and athletic department to monitor compliance by quantifying and reporting on NCAA regulations, ensuring accuracy in data handling and documentation.Responsible for performing the duties of a Campus Security Authority as defined by University policy and federal law with regards to the Clery Act.Actively participates in fundraising, promotional, and public relation activities for the sports program.Knows, recognizes and complies with the laws, policies, rules and regulations governing the University of Hawai‘i and its employees, and the rules of the NCAA and affiliated conferences as now constituted or as may be amended in the future. Immediately advises the Director of Athletics or designee if there is reasonable cause to believe violations, whether by employees, students, or others, have occurred or will occur.Performs other duties as required, including contributing mathematical insights to inventory management, budgeting, and operational efficiencyMinimum Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university.Knowledge of tennis as competed at the collegiate level.Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills.Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.Demonstrated ability to recognize problems, identify possible causes and resolve the full range of problems that may commonly occur in a tennis program.Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders and members, and individuals.Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays and travel.Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with people of diverse backgrounds.Valid driver’s license.First Aid, CPR and AED certification.Computer, cell phone, and social media technology competency.Ability to analyze data, compile statistics, and apply quantitative methods to support program planning, evaluation, and reporting.Proficiency with software tools relevant to data management and statistical analysis (e.g., Excel, R, Python, or other applicable programs).Or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.Desirable Qualifications:Tennis coaching experience at the collegiate level.Ability to understand and work effectively in Hawai'i's multi-cultural society.
