Summary
The Echo Technician is knowledgeable and proficient in the performance of Echocardiograms, Stress Tests and TEE. Echo Tech must work independently with direction from Director and/or Supervisor. Echo Tech will work closely with the medical staff to meet their patient/ clerical needs as well as the hospital staff on a daily basis.
Qualifications Education
Required: Graduate of accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography School
Certifications
National Registry upon hire with American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) Current BLS certification approved by the AHA required for Echo Tech#LI-TK1
Tenet complies with federal, state, and/or local laws regarding mandatory vaccination of its workforce. If you are offered this position and must be vaccinated under any applicable law, you will be required to show proof of full vaccination or obtain an approval of a religious or medical exemption prior to your start date. If you receive an exemption from the vaccination requirement, you will be required to submit to regular testing in accordance with the law.
Performs Echocardiograms using a departmental protocol for obtaining images. Assists with TEE's and stress testing, providing images that support the physician's ability to diagnose patients appropriately. Identifies problems & implements appropriate interventions, including reporting critical values. Sets priorities for completion of studies based on acuity, patient preference and/or the coordination of care with nursing and other ancillary services. Provides EKG and Holter Services when Echo workload permits. Obtains EKGs that reflect appropriate lead placement, minimal artifact, and correct patient information. Set's up and scans Holter Monitors, providing tracings that support the physician's ability to diagnose patients appropriately.
Education:
Required: Graduate of accredited CAAHEP or diagnostic medical sonography school, or at least 6 months of clinical experience.
Experience:
Required: 6 months in clinical setting.
Preferred: 2 years.
Certifications:
Required: Registry eligible and AHA BLS.
Preferred: RDMS, RDCS, or RCS.
