Your Impact at SAM The Cloud Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring the smooth functioning of the organization's cloud-based systems and services. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Design, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure on platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. Implement best practices for cloud architecture, including scalability, reliability, and security. Configure and manage cloud services such as compute instances, storage, databases, networking, and security groups. Set up monitoring systems to track the performance, availability, and utilization of cloud resources. Identify performance bottlenecks and optimize cloud infrastructure for efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Implement auto-scaling and load balancing strategies to handle fluctuations in workload. Ensure that cloud environments comply with industry standards and regulations (e.g., SOC2, etc) Implement security controls such as encryption, access controls, and network segmentation. Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments to identify and address potential risks. Develop and maintain incident response plans for cloud services, including escalation procedures and communication protocols. Coordinate response efforts during incidents, such as outages or security breaches, to minimize downtime and data loss. Implement disaster recovery measures to ensure business continuity in the event of system failures or disasters. Monitor cloud usage and spending to identify opportunities for cost optimization. Implement cost-saving measures such as reserved instances, resource tagging, and rightsizing of resources. Provide cost forecasts and budget recommendations to management based on usage trends and projected growth. Lead a team of cloud engineers/administrators, providing guidance, coaching, and mentorship. Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as development, operations, and security to align cloud initiatives with business goals Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing within the cloud operations team. This position may require occasional travel or off-hours availability to support maintenance activities or respond to emergencies. What You Bring to SAM Bachelor of Science degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. Master's degree preferred. Strong experience in managing cloud infrastructure and services, with expertise in one or more cloud platforms. In-depth knowledge of cloud computing principles, architectures, and best practices. Proficiency in scripting and automation tools (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Terraform) for managing cloud resources. Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Proven leadership experience, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve common goals. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically about cloud infrastructure and operations. Keeping up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in cloud computing is essential for success in this role. Certifications and/or Licensing Requirements Certification in cloud platforms such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect, or Google Cloud Certified - Professional Cloud Architect.
