We currently have openings for a Rail Vehicle Project Manager in the Vehicle Center of Excellence at our New York City, NY or Philadelphia, PA offices. This position offers the opportunity to work locally and across the country on a variety of rail vehicle procurements including commuter rail, heavy rail, intercity and light rail. Candidates must have project management experience, a track record of maintaining client relationships, and experience in coordinating engineers. The ideal candidate will understand the entire process of how passenger rail vehicles are specified, designed, and built. The candidate must have a strong understanding of developing project scope, budget, schedule, and leading negotiations on behalf of our clients. The Project Manager will also work with and provide guidance to technical engineering staff ranging from junior to senior level. Experience in vehicle engineering is also preferred, but not required.

 Responsibilities:

Lead and manage rail vehicle projects from planning, design, build, and through the warranty period. Develop project scope, budget, schedule, and lead client contract negotiations. Work with and provide guidance to technical engineering staff ranging from junior to senior level. Assist in coordinating design reviews, technical reports, designs, specifications, and project-related presentations. Work closely with other project managers and group leads within the Vehicle Center of Excellence to plan resources and manage internal workshare. Assist and lead in developing client capture plans and pursuit win plans, proposals, and other business development and client engagement activities. Conduct meetings with clients and public stakeholders, and perform site visits in the field as necessary. Travel domestically and internationally to conduct design reviews, first article inspections, and to meet other client needs.

Qualifications:

Candidates must hold a four-year Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Management. An ABET-accredited engineering degree is preferred. Minimum of 8 years of experience in rail vehicle projects. Prior experience managing projects. Willing to undertake a very wide variety of tasks and activities, demonstrate flexibility and have a desire for a wide range of experiences. Strong background in rail projects and working knowledge of passenger rail vehicles subsystems. Travel requirements can be up to 50% of time during intermittent phases of the project (such as for design reviews). Travel is anticipated to be both domestic and international. Relocation opportunities are available. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a desire to work closely with clients and other stakeholders outside of technical engineering teams. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited information exists.
