Instruct middle and high school students in grades 6-12 in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Design interdisciplinary learning experiences that fulfill the state of Florida’s standards and are consistent with the school’s mission of providing a college preparatory secondary education focused on STEM. Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students’ varying needs and interests, using flexible grouping based on on-going assessment to confer with students and provide differentiated instruction. Integrate technology into the learning environment by using computer labs, laptops, tablets, and interactive whiteboards. Encourage students to use technology as a tool for research, creativity, and problem-solving. Guide students as they explore the school’s problem-centered curriculum and develop an in-depth understanding of important mathematics concepts embedded within each activity. Expose students to problem solving, communication, and reasoning activities through real-world applications. Use a variety of teaching methodologies as well as innovative instructional methods to encourage students to develop a positive attitude toward STEM and facilitate the learning of each area. Promote the students’ academic potential and interest in STEM through guided instruction, individual and teamwork, tactile and kinesthetic activities, data collection, class work, and homework activities. Prepare, administer, and grade tests and assignments to evaluate student’s progress. Maintain accurate, complete, and correct student records as required by law, district policies, and administrative regulations. Confer with parents or guardians, other teachers, counselors, and administrators in order to resolve students behavioral and academic problems or to discuss students’ progress, and to determine students’ priorities and needs. Work with other teachers and staff to integrate technology into various STEM subjects and projects. Support students in the development of their work for presentations in regional, statewide, national, and international competitions. Requires two years of experience as a Teacher teaching middle or high school math or science. Stated experience must include coaching STEM or Mathematics Olympiad teams. Must pass background check. Requires a Florida Educator’s Certificate in Science or Mathematics (Grades 5-9 or 6-12) or an official statement of eligibility is required per state law. Requires a U.S. Bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in Engineering (any field), Science, Mathematics or related STEM field.
