About the Position
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate MRI Technologist to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will operate Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) equipment to perform diagnostic imaging procedures. You will ensure patient comfort, safety, and compliance with established protocols while producing the highest quality diagnostic images. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of imaging principles, excellent patient-care skills, and a commitment to accuracy, safety, and adherence to ACR accreditation standards.

Responsibilities
- Operate MRI Equipment
- Perform MRI scans in accordance with physician orders and imaging protocols.
- Set up MRI equipment and coil positioning, selecting appropriate imaging techniques based on patient diagnosis and clinical indications.
- Patient Care and Safety
- Greet, prepare, and position patients for imaging procedures, ensuring comfort and privacy.
- Screen patients for any contraindications (e.g., metallic implants, pacemakers, claustrophobia).
- Explain procedures to patients clearly and address any questions or concerns.
- Monitor patients’ condition during scans, responding promptly to changes or emergencies.
- Image Quality and Accuracy
- Adjust technical factors to optimize image quality while minimizing patient exposure to electromagnetic fields.
- Review images for clarity, completeness, and diagnostic quality before releasing them to radiologists.
- Document procedures and maintain accurate patient records in the imaging database or electronic health record system.
- Safety and Compliance
- Follow MRI safety standards, including screening all personnel and visitors entering the MRI suite.
- Adhere to infection control, radiation safety, and HIPAA regulations.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area, ensuring equipment is regularly inspected and calibrated.
- Ensure adherence to ACR accreditation standards by following quality control protocols, participating in quality assurance initiatives, and maintaining relevant documentation.
- Collaboration and Communication
- Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure timely, accurate diagnoses.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families, demonstrating empathy and professionalism.
- Participate in departmental meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and ongoing educational opportunities.
Qualifications
- Education:
- Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program or Magnetic Resonance Imaging program.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field preferred.
- Certification & Licensure:
- Active ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification in Radiography (R) and/or MRI (MR) required (or eligibility to obtain within a specified timeframe).
- State licensure as required by law.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience working as an MRI Technologist is required.
- Experience with MRI systems (e.g., GE, Siemens, Philips) is a plus.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, MRI physics, and imaging protocols.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to provide patient-centered care.
- Detail-oriented, with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment.
Working Conditions
- Physical Requirements: Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting patients or equipment. May require the ability to move or lift up to [X] pounds.
- Work Environment: Work may involve exposure to electromagnetic fields, and adherence to all MRI safety standards is essential. Protective equipment and scrubs may be required.
