Role Overview

As the AI Data Engineer, you will be a hands-on contributor, responsible for the entire AI workflow—from collecting and processing data to building and deploying AI models. You will have the unique opportunity to shape the direction of our AI initiatives as the first hire in the internal AI team, while also managing data engineering tasks to ensure smooth data flow for AI applications. You will work cross-functionally with multiple teams to identify AI use cases and develop solutions that deliver tangible value to the business.


This is a hybrid role, requiring both strong technical capabilities (in data engineering and AI development) and the ability to operate with high organizational efficiency and emotional intelligence (EQ) to ensure smooth collaboration and effective project execution.

Key Responsibilities


Cloud-Based AI Development:

  • Design and deploy AI models and data solutions using cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Microsoft Azure.
  • Optimize cloud resources for cost-effective and scalable AI deployment.

Full-Stack Integration:

  • Build user-facing applications using React.js that integrate seamlessly with backend AI services built in Python and hosted on cloud platforms.
  • Develop APIs and backend systems with Node.js and Python to support real-time data interactions.

Data Engineering:

  • Design and build scalable, reliable data pipelines to collect, process, and store structured and unstructured data for AI models and business applications.
  • Ensure data is clean, accessible, and structured for AI model development and production use.

Cross-Platform Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with teams to implement scalable, reliable solutions using containerized environments and cloud-native tools.
  • Coordinate with product teams to design dashboards and interfaces powered by AI insights.

AI Project Ownership:

  • Take full ownership of AI projects, from identifying opportunities to delivering solutions, including managing timelines, resources, and technical requirements.

Problem Solving and Troubleshooting:

  • Troubleshoot data-related and AI model performance issues, providing timely solutions to maintain seamless operations.

Organizational Excellence:

  • Track project progress, prioritize tasks across multiple initiatives, and ensure projects are completed on time and within scope.

Requirements:

Required Skills & Qualifications


Core Technical Expertise:


Full-Stack Development:

  • Proficient in the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express.js, React.js, Node.js) for developing scalable, end-to-end applications.
  • Strong Python programming skills with experience in frameworks like Flask or Django for backend services and AI model integration.

Cloud Platforms:

  • Hands-on experience with at least one of the following: Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Amazon Web Services (AWS), or Microsoft Azure, Snowflake.
  • Ability to design, deploy, and manage AI and data solutions using cloud services such as AWS SageMaker, Google AI Platform, or Azure ML.

AI/ML Expertise:

  • Proven experience in developing and deploying machine learning models with tools like TensorFlow, PyTorch, NumPy, or Scikit-learn.

Data Engineering:

  • Experience designing and building batch and real-time data pipelines using tools like Apache Kafka, Apache Airflow, or cloud-native alternatives.
  • Proficiency in data storage solutions, including relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, SQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra).
  • Experience with data integration and analysis.
  • Strong skills in data manipulation and preprocessing.

Infrastructure:

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version control systems like Git.
  • Understanding of containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, AI, or a related field. Equivalent experience will also be considered.
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field is preferred.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience integrating APIs for cross-platform functionality.
  • Knowledge of cloud-native AI and data services like BigQuery, AWS Lambda, or Azure Cognitive Services.
  • Familiarity with real-time data processing tools (e.g., Apache Flink, Kafka Streams).
  • Knowledge of deep learning and neural networks for advanced AI applications.
