A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A COMMERCIAL CONSTRUCTION JOB COORDINATOR

As a Commercial Construction Job Coordinator, your day revolves around managing jobsite activities, ensuring smooth communication, and keeping every aspect of the project on track. You will report directly to the General Superintendent and utilize your skills to coordinate projects of all sizes, adjusting as needed to align with other assignments. You may be asked to travel or manage multiple projects depending on company workflow.

You'll prepare reports, review blueprints, estimate costs, determine material needs, and align tasks to prevent delays. Working closely with team members, subcontractors, and vendors, you'll resolve conflicts and ensure smooth collaboration throughout the project.

Your focus on safety and quality will drive success. You'll enforce safety policies, address hazards immediately, and lead weekly safety meetings with subcontractors. Through regular inspections, you'll maintain high standards while keeping the jobsite and office organized for optimal performance.

Staying on schedule will be a priority. You'll coordinate with the Project Manager to update timelines, oversee subcontractors and vendors, manage punch lists, and order materials and inspections to meet key deadlines.

In this role, you'll build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers, ensuring everyone meets requirements and embodying company values like integrity, ownership, and professionalism.

Flexibility is essential. You may roll up your sleeves to perform trade work, travel for night shifts or out-of-town assignments, and adapt to shifting priorities as determined by the Company. Your problem-solving mindset will help you quickly overcome challenges, keeping the project on course.


QUALIFICATIONS FOR A COMMERCIAL CONSTRUCTION JOB COORDINATOR

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in large-scale professional commercial construction environments.
  • Sharp analytical and problem-solving abilities to evaluate project plans, identify cost-saving opportunities, and assess risks.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, the ability to work well on a team, and the ability to maintain working relationships with co-workers, contractors, vendors, and material suppliers.
  • Proficiency in cutting-edge construction technologies.

WORK SCHEDULE FOR A COMMERCIAL CONSTRUCTION JOB COORDINATOR

This full-time Job Coordinator position typically works 8.5 hours daily from Monday to Thursday with a half-day every other Friday. Occasionally, project assignments may involve travel, out-of-town work, or evening shifts.
