Animal Specialty Center in Yonkers, New York is seeking a Part-Time or Per Diem Radiation Therapist who is looking to join a fast paced, forward thinking hospital.

Radiation Therapist:

  • Maintains appropriate treatment and simulation records and data.
  • Performs required quality assurance procedures and documents accordingly.
  • Reviews all set-up instructions, radiation prescriptions, consents, treatment plan, and any other documentation related to treatment delivery.
  • Visually monitors the patient during treatment.
  • Maintains licensure, registration, and certifications as required.
  • Works within the Practice Standards as defined by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists.
  • Explains treatment process to the client in a clear and concise manner that promotes understanding when needed.
  • Answers any questions that the client may have which is within the scope of practice of the radiation therapist.
  • In charge of inventory and ordering of radiation supplies and equipment.
  • Oversee radiation CT simulation and positioning for new patient set ups.
  • Collaborate closely with radiation oncologist on all aspects of patient treatment.
  • Assists licensed veterinary technician and veterinary assistants with patient preparation and recovery.


Required Skills:

  • Two years of clinical experience or graduate of a JRCERT-accredited program in radiation therapy or a suitable equivalent
  • Certified and registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiation Therapy or ARRT Board exam eligible
  • Eligible for licensing by the New York State Department of Health as a radiologic technologist.
  • Dosimetry experience or willingness to learn dosimetry be responsible for registering imaging for treatment planning and contouring of normal structures
  • Strong medical skills and knowledge.
  • Patient/client-oriented.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proficiency with computer platforms and applications for Varian Eclipse and Aria. (Training will be provided.)
  • Experience with stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT), and image guided radiotherapy (IGRT).
  • Demonstrates enthusiasm and initiative to begin and complete tasks.


Desired Skills:

  • Two years of clinical experience in Radiation Therapy or any related health science field
  • Experience with Varian TrueBeam radiotherapy preferred
  • Strong interest in veterinary medicine and knowledge of the field.
