Overview

The Associate Director oversees Consumer Reports' research, evaluation, testing and day to day operations for the Digital Marketplace Program. They are responsible for driving innovation initiatives related to emerging technologies and business models across the digital marketplace. They lead a team of professionals responsible for developing standards, benchmarks and testing protocols to assess Digital Marketplace fairness, security, privacy and products/services that impact consumers with a specific focus on AI/ML. The role requires deep technical expertise in data science, engineering and applied ethics in addition to excellent project and people management abilities.

Under our CRFlex program, this is a hybrid position and is eligible for remote work up to 80%. The successful candidate must reside within 75 miles of our main office location in Yonkers New York or New York City.

How you'll make an Impact:

As an Associate Director, Digital Marketplace Program you will:

  • Develop and execute on Consumer Reports' Digital Marketplace objectives. Responsible for AI/ML, Fintech and IOT connected device research & testing agenda, including advocating policies, publishing insight and building partnerships
  • Lead prototype development of AI auditing and benchmarking tools for the digital marketplace
  • Manage team of digital marketplace product and technology researchers, evaluators/testers and R&D specialists conducting product evaluations, technology assessments, and marketplace analysis
  • Continuously enhance digital marketplace research and testing methodologies and research practices related to responsible innovation
  • Work closely with the Sr. Director, Digital Marketplace to ensure alignment with program strategy
  • Be accountable for the performance and project outcomes, ensure delivery on critical project metrics, and keep others informed of progress
  • Support Sr. Director,Testing and Research, in overseeing operational and test development activities to ensure that product testing is performed on schedule, according to procedures, with quality and accuracy.
  • Manage relationships with internal and external partners and stakeholders ensuring effective collaboration.
  • Represent Consumer Reports externally such as in videos, media interviews, and with academia, industry, and manufacturer interactions and help shape policy, regulatory debates related to technology impacts
  • Work with Sr. Director, Testing and Research, to develop and execute effective succession plans, including the selection, mentoring, and coaching of the appropriate team members to meet the department's requirements of the organization
  • Stay current on external trends, testing standards and competitors' practices.

Fair Pay & A Just WorkPlace

At Consumer Reports, we are committed to fair, transparent pay and we strive to provide competitive, market-informed compensation. The target salary range for this position is $180k to $200k. This posted range is reflective of the NY/CA market. It is anticipated that most qualified candidates will fall near the middle of this range. Compensation for the successful candidate will be informed by the candidate's particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience.
