Job DescriptionJob DescriptionAs a part of the Omega Bio-tek R&D team you will be involved in nanomaterial production and application testing to improve our current product offerings, as well as lead entirely new research projects into the applications of nanomaterials A successful applicant will have experience developing, modifying, and/or characterizing nanoparticles and using those materials for biological applications.

What you will do:
  • Synthesize, modify, and characterize nanoparticles and their performance in a variety of assays.
  • Works independently or within a group to design and perform experiments to properly execute management initiatives
  • Complete projects through product launch with minimal supervision of the R&D manager
  • Utilize literature to identify solutions to issues encountered during research, including assays not currently utilized by the R&D team
  • Develop experimental plans to properly improve or achieve desired results
  • Supervise experimental strategy and tasks associated with support of up to two technicians
  • Troubleshoots experimental results from laboratory technicians
  • Convey findings and effectively communicate (including with non-technical teams) across the organization
  • Help train laboratory staff
  • Properly document laboratory tests and results
  • Play a key role in department goals and project deadlines being met
  • Ensure that all company, industry, state, federal safety standards are being followed including OSHA, EPA, and waste management
  • Interact with senior laboratory personnel and R&D manager to review progress and present results
  • Ensure laboratory is clean and equipment is being properly maintained
  • Develop, optimize, and perform assays for qPCR, PCR, NGS applications
  • Revise and update SOPs, as directed by manager
  • Follow established company SOP and ISO 9001 guidelines
What you will need:
  • MS or PhD degree in life science area or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years post PhD molecular biology laboratory experience. 5+ years with MS
  • Able to obtain full face respirator certification upon hire
What you will bring:
  • Candidates with experience in nanoparticle applications, synthesis, modification, and/or characterization will be strongly considered.
  • Experience with DNA & RNA extraction, PCR and qPCR. 
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills
  • Must demonstrate excellent ability to manage large amount of technical data and documentation
  • Proficient with standard computer software
