FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Yearly Salary: 90-130K
On behalf of our Client, a leading supplier of advanced machinery and tooling solutions for the glass and stone processing industries, we are looking for a skilled Technical Services Specialist.
The Technical Services Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the successful operation and longevity of our specialized machinery. This position demands a high level of technical expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and excellent customer service. The Specialist will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including on-site installations, machinery rebuilds and repairs, preventative maintenance, and providing technical support to customers.
This is a field position: only candidates who are willing and able to travel up to 75% of the time will be considered for this position.
Core Accountabilities:
1. Machinery Installations:
- Execute the installation of specialized machinery at customer sites, ensuring proper setup, functionality, and adherence to safety guidelines.
- Collaborate closely with the Technical Services Manager to develop and adhere to efficient installation schedules, minimizing downtime and maximizing customer satisfaction.
- Provide comprehensive training to customer personnel on the proper operation and maintenance of installed equipment.
2. Machinery Rebuild and Repairs:
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues with machinery, utilizing diagnostic tools and technical expertise.
- Perform high-quality rebuilds and repairs of machinery components, ensuring optimal performance and longevity.
- Maintain accurate records of all repairs and maintenance activities.
3. Preventative Maintenance:
- Conduct regular preventative maintenance activities with contracted customers, adhering to established service schedules and industry best practices.
- Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with customers, proactively identifying and addressing their maintenance needs.
- Educate customers on the importance of preventative maintenance and its benefits in maximizing equipment uptime and reducing unexpected downtime costs.
4. Customer Support:
- In-Office Responsibilities (When not traveling):Monitor and promptly respond to service-related emails and inquiries from customers.
- Provide timely and effective solutions to customer technical issues, ensuring their satisfaction.
- Manage the fulfillment of spare parts and tooling orders, including coordinating with customers, independent sales representatives, and the warehouse to ensure accurate and timely delivery.
- Remote Technical Support:Provide remote technical support to customers via phone, email, or remote access software, troubleshooting issues and guiding them through resolution steps.
5. Continuous Improvement:
- Actively seek opportunities to improve service delivery processes, enhance customer satisfaction, and increase operational efficiency.
- Stay abreast of the latest industry advancements, technologies, and best practices in machinery maintenance and repair.
6. Safety:
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company safety policies at all times.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience in industrial machinery maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting.
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with a solid understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to travel from 50% to 75% of the time to the customer's sites across the United States.
- Proficient in the use of diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- Experience within the glass and stone processing industry is a strong plus.
- Proficiency in a second language (Italian or Spanish) is a definite plus.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and tools.
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and crawl for extended periods.
- Ability to work in a variety of environments, including industrial settings.
