Job DescriptionJob Description

The Madison Area YMCA is seeking certified lifeguards to join our aquatics team Lifeguards maintain safe swimming conditions in the pool, deck and surrounding areas while creating a safe and fun swimming environment

Are you an early bird? The Madison Y offers an additional $2.50/hour between the hours of 6:00am-8:00am.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Swim with proficiency and endurance; remain calm and efficient
  • Demonstrate knowledge of water hazards, pool safety, lifesaving techniques, and first aid.
  • Attend in-service meetings

Qualifications:

  • At least 15 years of age
  • Certifications: Current YMCA Lifeguard or equivalent, First Aid & CPR
  • Ability to maintain certification-level of physical and mental readiness.
  • Must demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance with YMCA standards.
  • Must be able to maintain a positive demeanor and attitude towards members and staff.


Are you not yet certified but looking to get your lifeguarding certification? The Madison Y can help you Individuals who successfully complete a lifeguard certification class through the Madison Area YMCA and then later accept a lifeguarding position with us are eligible to receive a cash incentive equal to 50% of the cost of certification
