Job DescriptionJob DescriptionUnder the direct supervision of the center Site Supervisor, the Teacher is responsible for implementing a curriculum program to teach young children. Enforce school and class rules to help teach students proper behavior. Assist with supervision of children at all times. Ensure compliance with California Department of Education (CSPP), CA Department of Social Services (CCTR), Title 5, Funding Terms and conditions, Community Care Licensing, Title 22; and Local, State, County Fire, Building and Safety mandates.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The responsibilities of the Teacher will include but not to be limited to the following:

1. Develop and implement a developmentally age appropriate preschool program for young children
Implement activities to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual and social needs of the children in the program
Prepare and serve nutritious snacks and lunches to the children
Provide adequate equipment and activities
Ensure equipment and the facility are clean, well maintained and safe at all times
Provide weekly and monthly schedules of activities
Develop culturally appropriate programs and activities
Develop activities that introduce math and literacy concepts
Establish policies and procedures including acceptable disciplinary policies
Be familiar with emergency procedures

2. Supervise children in the facilities:
Ensure children are supervised at all times
Provide various experiences and activities for children including songs, games and storytelling
Build childrens self esteem
Comfort children
Establish routines and provide positive guidance
Provide a safe and secure environment for children to feel comfortable
Implement positive discipline when required
Clearly and effectively communicate in a manner that children understand
Observe children and make note of progress (DRDP Anecdotals)
Assessments such as DRDPS and Ages and Stages Questionnaires (ASQs)
Integrate special needs children in a positive and respectful manner
Follow any and all IEP, IFSP and behavior plans.

3. Communicate with parents and members of the community
Greet positively interact with families at pick up and drop off
Discuss childrens development with parents twice a year Parent Conference
Discuss identified problems and needs with professionals as appropriate
Participate in community activities
Promote literacy and early education
Update parents with photos & notes via learning genie daily
Keep parents informed of program expectations, program activities and their childs progress
Develop and maintain current, accurate and confidential client files
Develop daily activity plans

4. Reporting Requirements
Completion of DRDPs at 60 calendar days from enrollment and start of year, and every six months thereafter, along with summary of findings
ERS self study & summary of findings (Twice a year)
Monthly submission of lessons plans and curriculum orders

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Must have and possess Associate Teacher Permit or higher. Must have completed a minimum of 12 core Early Childhood Education (ECE) / Child Development (CD) college units. along with completion of High School diploma.
Experience: Previous teaching experience or experience working with children
Personal Qualities: Need to be friendly and inviting. Need to adapt easily and enjoy learning. Open to constructive feedback that enhances the organization.
TB Clearance (every two years)/Physical (once upon hire)
Fingerprinting Clearance by FBI, DOJ, Child Abuse Index and these criminal records are required for employment
Vaccines(TDAP every 10 years and MMR)
Flu Shot annually
CPR/ First Aid Certification (every two years)
Mandated Reporter Training (AB1207 every two years)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to work in a classroom setting
Ability to communicate effectively with parents, staff, and management
Ability to carry and lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to sit for long periods of time
Ability to bend, lift, and carry
Ability to complete tasks with numerous interruptions
Ability to supervise numerous children at once, while ensuring safety as a priority
Ability to be prepared for accidents and emergency drills at any time
