Afloat Training Group Pacific (ATGPAC) is responsible for the training and certification of all ships in the Pacific Fleet. With training standards and requirements continuously evolving, ATGPAC must adapt to meet these challenges by increasing manpower and flexibility. The group's mission is to deliver high-quality, dynamic afloat training to U.S. Navy and Coast Guard Sailors, ensuring a combat-ready force capable of executing a wide range of maritime missions. A key focus is on training ships' training teams, special evolution teams, and watch teams to enhance onboard capabilities and improve combat readiness throughout deployment cycles.
Distributed Training
ATGPAC conducts distributed training through computer-based simulations and Live, Virtual Constructive (LVC) events in the ATGSD Battle Lab. This type of training encompasses live or synthetic services designed to train or certify non-organic ships. Key distributed training events include:
- Final Battle Problem at-sea (FBP)
- Fleet Synthetic Training-Unit (FST-U)
- Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD)
- Anti-Air/Surface/Electronic Warfare (AW/SW/EW) Training and Certification
- Monthly Inport Training Exercise (MITE)
- ATG Ship’s Entity Test and Tactical Training (ASET/ASTT)
- Strike Warfare (STW) Certification
The ATGPAC Battle Lab provides exercise scenarios and training through the Navy Continuous Training Environment (NCTE), Tactical Data Links (TDL), Mission Distribution System (MDS), Battle Force Team Trainer (BFTT), and Global Command and Control System – Maritime (GCCS-M).
Collaboration with Tactical Training Group Pacific (TTGP)
To facilitate this training, ATGPAC collaborates with the Tactical Training Group Pacific (TTGP) to deliver virtual training to ships and training facilities as outlined in the Fleet Synthetic Training (FST) Program. TTGP serves as the Executive Agent for the Commander, Pacific Fleet (CPF) Distributed Training Architecture (DTA), which includes the Navy’s Continuous Training Environment (NCTE) and other command and control (C2) systems. TTGP operates as the primary persistent NCTE node for the Pacific Fleet and also functions as a key node for the Joint National Training Capability Training and Enterprise Network (JTEN).
Requirements:Required Operational Experience:
- Mid-level experience in naval operations or conducting naval warfare training, or equivalent joint experience.
- Proficiency in operating Navy tactical training systems, such as Battle Force Team Trainer (BFTT) and Joint Semi-Automated Forces (JSAF)/Multi-System Automated Remote Control and Instrumentation (MARCI) systems, along with Tactical Voice/Data Communications.
Knowledge:
- Familiarity with the Surface Force Training and Readiness Manual (SFTRM).
- Understanding of the Composite Warfare Commander construct.
- Knowledge of Command and Control functions related to surveillance, engagement, and planning for various numbered fleets.
- Insight into staff and fleet operations and planning procedures.
- Awareness of Fleet Synthetic Training architecture.
Education:
- Bachelor of Science (BS) degree preferred.
Security Clearance
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
