POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Radiology Director/Manager and /or Lead Technologist the MRI Technologist will perform all MRI duties as well as all duties of a staff Radiologic Technologist and other related duties as needed to facilitate workflow and promote health care. MRI Technologists will operate MRI equipment safely and competently to produce quality diagnostic images as directed by physicians according to established standards and protocols.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assists physicians in invasive and non-invasive procedures using proper sterile technique as directed.
- Perform MRI and or other related radiographic procedures/modalities as instructed.
- Obtains and reviews documentation before performing exam. i.e. Physician’s orders, consent and other forms, historical and contrast media questionnaire.
- QC’s all exams in Cerner as the exam is completed to ensure accurate historical reporting data.
- Selects proper technical factors on an individual basis to insure the highest quality of diagnostic images while insuring that patients and co-workers are protected against needless radiation exposure.
- Responsible for the thorough knowledge of Radiographic policies, procedures, equipment, and supplies as well as the operation of PACS, RIS, and HIS programs.
- Takes an active part in patient education by explaining the examination process.
- Promotes positive patient relations in a caring environment by making patients comfortable and at ease during procedures.
- Transfers and positions patients using extreme care, patience, and proper body mechanics.
- Identifies patients using the hospital's double identification policy.
- Responds to backup calls as needed within 30 minutes.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and hospital staff members.
- Independent thinking to exercise good judgment in determining actions in emergencies.
- Other duties are assigned from time to time by the lead technologist, radiology manager, and/or director.
- Adhere to the behavioral standards and other policies set forth by the district.
- The district completes all educational and other related requirements annually.
- Upkeep of all related professional licenses including BLS.
EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
Associate of arts degree in vocational radiology technology or formal AMA-approved educational program with certification.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
- ARRT(R) certification.
- ARRT (MR)-Preferred
- Certified Radiologic Technologist (California).
- Fluoroscopy Permit (California) within six months of hire into position.
- Current CPR/BLS certification required accredited by the American Heart Association.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: There is a potential for exposure to blood and body fluids.
