Position Overview/Description:

The Field Supervisor will work in the field to oversee and coordinate the field staff in the safe performance of daily work tasks.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and direction to the field teams and model GrayMar values.
  • Ensure each employee is prepared and educated in safe work practices
  • Coach and train employees. Provide ongoing feedback and motivation.
  • Accomplishes department objectives by supervising staff and organizing and monitoring work processes in the field.
  • Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees and developing personal growth opportunities while working side by side on the jobsite.
  • Accomplishes staff job results by leading by example, coaching, and disciplining employees.
  • Plans, monitors, and appraises job results.
  • Conducts training on the job in a one-on-one atmosphere as well as executes group training.
  • Implements and enforces systems, policies, and procedures specific to each jobsite, spill, or emergency response.
  • Creates worksheets for billing that accurately reflects time, materials, rentals, disposal, and other billable items.
  • Maintains safe and healthy work environment by establishing and enforcing organization standards and adhering to legal regulations.
  • Completes operations by developing schedules, assigning and monitoring work, gathering resources, implementing productivity standards, resolving operations problems, maintaining reference manuals, and implementing new procedures.
  • Controls expenses by gathering and submitting budget information, scheduling expenditures, monitoring variances, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Provides quality service by enforcing quality and customer service standards.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Performs labor intensive activities in all-weather conditions throughout the shift.
  • Works in atmospheres with low clearances, confined spaces and at heights.
  • Operates lights and heavy equipment not limited to skid skeeters, forklifts, pressure washer.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Thorough understanding of equipment and operations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong mechanical and troubleshooting abilities on a wide range of machinery and equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Knowledge of fleet maintenance for heavy duty tanker equipment and other commercial vehicles.
  • Must be able to perform physical labor including lifting, pulling, and pushing heavy objects.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to wear PPE and respirator.
  • Must be able to work under adverse conditions (heat & cold).


Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license required with clean driving record.
  • 5-years of experience as a HAZWOPER/Environmental technician. OR 3-years of experience as HAZWOPER/Environmental technician with an additional 2-years of experience as a supervisor in another industry.
  • Proficient with Fleetio or related software to complete reports and logs.
