Power-Flo Technologies Somerville is a high-tech distributor specializing in automation, drives, motion control, machine vision, machine safety, and robots. We are seeking a Controls Engineer to join our team.


This is a full-time, on-site opportunity in Somerville, NJ.


Controls Engineer Primary Functions :

  • Pre- and post-sales support for all Power-Flo Technologies Automation products and services.
  • Assist Customers with our core industrial products
  • Assist sales and account managers as necessary to close business.
  • Generate Engineering and Training billings.

Controls Engineer Essential Responsibilities :

  • Designs, develops, and applies control systems engineering and automatic control theory, to design and automate systems and machines, ensuring easy and efficient use, providing maximum benefit to the consumer
  • Researches, tests, and analyzes the design used in relation to the function of the elements in the system to ensure it can handle and tolerate consumer demand
  • Plans and implements changes, and upgrades to machines, including changing parts or adding a part, making it more efficient in saving time and money
  • Phone and On-Site customer support.
  • Preparation and execution of product training classes including development of course and materials.
  • Attend vendor training classes as offered and/or required.
  • Maintenance, Appearance and Upgrades to Product Demo Rooms and Training Rooms across the entire Power-Flo Technologies territory
  • Weekly Schedule report.
  • Target and Plan for minimum $20K annual Engineering and Training Billings.
  • Minimum 2 customer calls per week, whether technical or sales.
  • Monitor and complete assigned “War Board” Tasks
  • Development of product demonstrations, Bills of Materials and product research as required by Sales and Account Managers
  • The right candidate will become factory certified in the product lines we support.

Controls Engineer Necessary Qualifications :

  • 2+ years of configuring, programming, and troubleshooting PLCs and HMIs
  • AS or equivalent technical degree
  • Presentation and Trainer skills
  • Minimum 2 years industry experience (Industrial automation or robotics experience)
  • Must have some electrical cad and programming experience
  • Valid Driver's License

Controls Engineer Physical Requirements :

  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle
  • Some minor lifting of demo equipment, etc.
