Clinical Nurse
Job Summary
Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. Reporting to the Nurse Manager/Director, the Clinical Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting.
Job Responsibilities
- Education:
- Participates in identifying and addressing learning needs for self.
- Attends educational programs based on identified learning needs.
- Utilizes appropriate patient education materials relevant to the patient population.
- Assesses the readiness to learn of patients, families, and caregivers.
- Evaluates the developmental level of patients and factors affecting their ability to learn.
- Evaluation of Care:
- Identifies expected patient outcomes and seeks guidance as needed in revising the plan of care.
- Participates in discussions with interdisciplinary team members regarding patient care evaluation.
- Communicates relevant information to ensure continuity of care.
- Implementation:
- Demonstrates competence in caring for patients with complex issues, including physical, psychosocial, and safety aspects of care.
- Performs bedside point-of-care testing as required by the patient care plan.
- Adheres to organizational and nursing standards, policies, and procedures in care delivery.
- Organizes and prioritizes care according to patient and family needs.
- Consults with appropriate resources regarding patients with complex care issues and those requiring discharge planning.
- Leadership:
- Develops goals to promote professional growth and addresses limitations with assistance.
- Achieves set goals and objectives within the designated timeframe or renegotiates as needed.

- Patient Assessment:

- Synthesizes assessment data into coherent summaries and communicates effectively.
- Assesses anticipated discharge needs of patients and families.
