POSITION SUMMARY:

 

Manage and perform chemical analysis of incoming raw metal and alloy powder samples in accordance with the requirements of the quality system procedures and control plans. Maintain chemical and equipment inventory as necessary to perform analytical testing. Professionally execute all responsibilities detailed in the quality system procedures on a daily basis, uses their product knowledge and laboratory methodology expertise to conduct in-process and finished product testing. Final approval testing on raw materials; document test results in the appropriate databases; assist in maintaining electronic batch sheet files; and represent the Quality Department in production meetings.

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:  

 

·         Conduct required testing on finished product and raw materials according to quality system procedures and control plans

·         Verify materials meet Fusion specifications and certify approval by documenting test results, proper disposition in the appropriate databases, and labeling materials on the production floor

·         Primary for alloy analysis including proficiency in sample prep involving acid digestions (including HF) for metal analysis, expertise in operating ICP, and sieve analysis

·         Maintain accurate and updated analytical standards

·         Order required lab supplies

·         Perform preventative maintenance on required lab instruments

·         Primary for melt point determinations involving proficiency in operating TGA/DSC

·         Code raw chemicals, raw metals, and purchased alloys as detailed in ISO procedures for production use

·         Ability to perform purchased material inventory transactions in Macola (ERP system)

·         Adhere to and enforce prescribed safety rules and regulations

·         Practice good housekeeping to maintain a neat, clean, and safe work environment

·         Evaluate non-conforming materials per ISO instructions, recommend disposition, complete appropriate documentation, and properly mark non-conforming materials

·         Commit to following the Quality Policy established procedures and guidelines as required by ISO 9001 standards.  Seek opportunities for continuous process improvement as a commitment to the Quality Policy

·         Assist in the review, advise methodology and update lab work instructions and lab ISO procedures in coordination with the Quality Manager or Quality Assurance Improvement Engineer

·         Back-up for paste (final product) inspection including use of viscometer, flow rate, solder/braze check, and completing Fusion product certifications including creating, maintaining, and sending product certifications

·         Perform other duties as assigned or directed

 

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

 

·         Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, engineering or related scientific discipline

·         Minimum of 3 years experience in chemical and trace metals analysis

·         Analytical and problem solving skills equivalent to that required at a Bachelor degree level

·         Organizational skills and demonstrated verbal and written communication skills

·         Proven computer literacy in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook

·         Specialized training in handling hazardous materials and applicable equipment usage

·         Able to lift and maneuver up to 50 lbs. as needed for raw material receiving (includes tow motor use)

·         Flexibility in daily work while being punctual, reliable, and excellent in attendance

·         Self-starter and able to work with minimal direct supervision

·         Willingness to learn new techniques and expand knowledge base where required
