Job DescriptionJob Description

Ambulatory Orthopedic Surgery Center is looking for experienced Surgical Technologist. Candidate should have min. of 1-year experience either in ambulatory or acute care setting. S/He should be able to function independently in a fast paced environment. Strong emphasis in Orthopedic is preferred. This individual is responsible for assisting the surgeon, helping in the central sterile processing department, restocking and changing over rooms between procedures, and assists in maintenance of all supplies.

Duties:
* Prepares for surgical procedures by setting up the operating room; organizing sterile table with surgical instruments and equipment, sterile linens, and sterile solutions.

* Utilizes surgeon preference cards to check with each case and updates as needed.

* Keeps equipment operating by checking and adjusting sterilizers, lights, suction machines, electrosurgical units, and diagnostic equipment.

* Keeps supplies ready by maintaining fluids, such as plasma, saline, blood, and glucose for use during surgery.

* Prepares patients for surgery by washing, shaving, and disinfecting incision sites; transporting patients; positioning patients on table; covering patients with sterile surgical drapes.

* Anticipates the needs of the surgeon by passing instruments with a high degree of efficiency, anticipating physician and patient needs during the case; providing sterile items; holding retractors, cutting sutures, and applying dressings.

* Safeguards surgical specimens by preparing, caring for, and routing to laboratory.

* Interacts with patients, fellow employees, physicians, and other customers in a manner which encourages quality patient care, harmonious working relationships, positive customer relations, and which enhances the image and reputation of the center. Shares knowledge with co-workers through open communication.

* Enhances ASC by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. Follows chain of command regarding intra or interdepartmental issues.

* Serves and protects the ASC by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements.

Qualifications
Min. 1-year experience required.
BLS Certification
Excellent communication skills
Operating Room with Ortho experience preferred
