Position Summary: 

The Production Supervisor – Welding, Buffing, and Grinding is responsible for managing and coordinating activities in these specialized departments to ensure production goals are met while maintaining high standards for safety, quality, and efficiency. The Supervisor is accountable for optimizing workflows, leading a team, and driving continuous improvement initiatives in line with company objectives. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee daily operations in the Welding, Buffing, and Grinding departments to ensure production schedules are met. 
  • Allocate tasks and resources to team members to maximize productivity and meet quality standards. 
  • Conduct regular safety audits and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company policies. 
  • Train and mentor team members in welding, buffing, and grinding techniques, emphasizing proper use of equipment and adherence to safety standards. 
  • Monitor equipment performance and coordinate maintenance or repairs to minimize downtime. 
  • Collaborate with quality assurance teams to identify and address product defects or process inefficiencies. 
  • Maintain accurate production records and prepare reports for management review. 
  • Implement process improvements and recommend upgrades to equipment or workflows to enhance efficiency. 
  • Conduct performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and address disciplinary issues when necessary. 
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team environment, promoting a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. 

 

Education and Qualifications: 

  • 5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment, particularly in welding, grinding, or buffing operations preferred. 
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, or a related field preferred. 
  • Technical knowledge of welding preferred. 
  • Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and experience with ERP systems. 
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. 
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven manufacturing environment 

 

Physical Demands: 

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the facility for extended periods. 
  • May be required to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds. 
  • Exposure to manufacturing environments, including noise, dust, and variable temperatures.
