Mechanical Assembly Technicians are needed for an engineering company in Santa Fe Springs CA
Steel-toed shoes or Steel-toed boots are required
Temporary position with the opportunity to be hired, if the right fit, paying $23-27.50/hr depending on starting experience (Job-related knowledge, skills, and experience). Excellent benefits if hires on. Background check and drug screen required prior to start. Hours are Monday - Friday, with 1/2 hour lunch, 6 AM to 5 PM (10 hour shifts, 2 Hours OT Daily); OT during the week, as needed and will be on Saturdays from 5 AM to 11 AM and must be available to work every Saturday.
The Mechanical Assembly Technician is responsible for interpreting blueprint drawings, work instructions, and technical specifications for the fabrication or repair of aircraft ground support equipment. To perform assembly operations, the technician must have a working knowledge of assembly techniques, tooling, and company procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assembles aircraft engine stands as well as sub-assemblies using engineering drawings and sketches for aircraft engine stands
- Review drawings and parts lists for accuracy and coordinate with other departments to resolve issues.
- Review completed work and ensure that all assemblies and details are correct.
- Perform functional checks of assembled products.
- Ensure that all assembly work meets quality standards.
- Ability to accomplish assignments with minimum supervision.
- Resolve assembly and documentation problems, report problems to the appropriate lead or supervisor for assistance, and follow up with all non-compliance issues.
- Other Duties, as assigned.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- Prior experience reading and interpreting blueprints, work instructions, technical specs or equivalent
- The ability to apply fundamental concepts and knowledge of assembly skills and their application.
- Prior experience operating power tools (grinders, drills, etc.), hand tools (wrenches, screwdrivers, etc.), and the ability to properly perform thread tapping and chasing
- Prior use of PPE.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 20 lbs. and maximum of 40 lbs. required and stand for prolonged periods of time.
Preferred:
- Prior experience operating large overhead cranes and forklifts.
- Hydraulic installation and troubleshooting experience
- Prior understanding and application of 5S/6S principles
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Required: A minimum of five (5) years related experience and/or training in mechanical assembly; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Preferred is a minimum of two (2) years working experience in a manufacturing environment
- Dependable and self-motivated
- Ability to manage several builds concurrently
- Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills and knowledge/experience.
