We are seeking a  NACE Level 1 Painting and Coating Inspector is responsible for ensuring the quality and compliance of painting and coating applications, The role involves inspecting and verifying that coatings are applied according to specified standards, such as NACE, SSPC, or project-specific requirements.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

1. Inspection & Monitoring:
• Conduct surface preparation and coating inspections, ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry standards.

• Verify cleanliness, surface profile, and environmental conditions (e.g., humidity, temperature, dew point).

• Inspect coating materials to ensure they meet specified requirements.

2. Testing & Measurements:
• Perform non-destructive testing (NDT) to measure coating thickness using tools like dry film thickness gauges.

• Test adhesion, holiday detection, and other performance characteristics of coatings.

3. Documentation:
• Maintain detailed inspection records, including daily reports, test results, and photographic documentation.

• Record and report any deviations or non-conformities, recommending corrective actions as needed.

4. Compliance & Standards:
• Ensure all coatings are applied in compliance with industry standards (e.g., NACE, SSPC, ISO) and project requirements.

• Work closely with contractors and project managers to address quality issues.

5. Health & Safety:
• Ensure proper safety practices are followed during coating and inspection activities, including the use of PPE and hazard assessments.

• Report unsafe conditions or practices promptly.

6. Communication:
• Liaise with clients, contractors, and supervisors to communicate inspection findings and resolve issues.

• Provide technical guidance on coating application techniques and standards when required.

Requirements:

• Certification: NACE Level 1 Coating Inspector Certification (or equivalent).

• Experience: enough to have proper understanding of coating and painting processes, including surface preparation, environmental conditions, and coating application.

• Technical Skills:

• Proficient in using inspection tools and equipment (e.g., DFT gauges, environmental monitors, adhesion testers).

• Familiarity with industry standards (NACE, SSPC, ISO, etc.).

• Soft Skills:

• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.

• Effective communication skills for reporting and collaboration.

Work Environment:

• Industrial settings such as fabrication shop or subcontractors paint shops.

• May involve exposure to chemicals, heights, confined spaces, and weather conditions.

This role is critical for ensuring that protective coatings perform effectively, helping to prevent corrosion and extend the lifespan of structures and equipment.
