Job Title: Direct Support Professional (DSP) - DDA Residential Group Home

Description: Are you a compassionate, patient, and dedicated individual looking to make a meaningful impact in the lives of others? Join our dynamic team as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) at our DDA (Developmental Disabilities Administration) Residential Group Home. In this rewarding role, you will have the opportunity to empower and support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, helping them lead fulfilling, self-directed lives and achieve their personal goals.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide person-centered direct care and support to residents, assisting with activities of daily living such as personal hygiene, dressing, and meal preparation while promoting independence and dignity.
  2. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop, implement, and monitor individualized support plans that foster the development of life skills, social skills, and community integration.
  3. Prioritize the health, safety, and well-being of residents by adhering to established policies, procedures, and protocols, and by maintaining a safe and welcoming environment within the group home.
  4. Administer medications as prescribed, following proper medication administration techniques and maintaining accurate medication records.
  5. Engage residents in meaningful recreational, educational, and therapeutic activities that promote personal growth, social interaction, and community involvement.
  6. Document daily progress, incidents, and concerns using established documentation systems, and communicate effectively with supervisors, healthcare professionals, and family members as appropriate.
  7. Provide safe and reliable transportation for residents to appointments, community events, and other outings using agency vehicles.
  8. Actively participate in training sessions, meetings, and professional development opportunities to enhance skills, knowledge, and adherence to best practices in the field of intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field such as psychology, social work, or special education highly preferred.
  2. Minimum of one year of direct support experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a residential or community setting.
  3. Valid driver's license and clean driving record, with the ability to obtain necessary certifications for operating agency vehicles.
  4. Current CPR and First Aid certification or ability to obtain certification upon hire.
  5. Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with residents, families, and colleagues.
  6. Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  7. Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to ensure consistent and high-quality support for our residents.
  8. Physical ability to assist with lifting, transferring, and positioning of residents using proper techniques and equipment as necessary.
