We are looking for a highly qualified and experienced Controller to join our team. The Controller will play a key role in overseeing the financial operations of our company. This position will provide transactional, analytical, and technical support within the accounting department. Some accounting duties include facilitating the month end close process, posting journals, reconciling, reviewing, and researching transactions. This role is hands on, and highly visible.

Responsibilities

  • Create, maintain, and upload journals accurately and timely.
  • Establish and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accuracy of financial data.
  • Coordinate external audits and regulatory compliance activities.
  • Stay abreast of changes in accounting standards, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Lead physical inventory process and internal/external audits.
  • File required return and maintain company’s status for conducting international business.
  • Develop, monitor, and maintain internal control guidelines and SOPs for accounting functions.
  • Maintain internal/external relationships to facilitate accurate transactions.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Lead and mentor the finance team, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the finance department.
  • Maintain subject knowledge expertise with GAAP.
  • Monitor and analyze financial performance against key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide actionable insights to executive team.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in accounting and finance, and proactively adapt policies and procedures as needed.

Required Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid understanding of GAAP and industry regulations
  • Solid understanding of Cost Accounting
  • Ability to deliver quality work on tight deadlines, with strong organization and priority setting skills.
  • Working knowledge of payroll, AP, and AR functions
  • Hands-on experience in operating spreadsheets and accounting software, also familiar with Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) transmissions
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local taxes and reporting
  • Proficiency in English and in MS Office (i.e. advanced Excel)
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • High ethical standards and integrity, with a commitment to upholding confidentiality and compliance.
  • Strong leadership abilities, with a proven track record of building and developing high-performing teams.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CPA with a strong background in inventory accounting is preferred.
  • Five (5) years of experience working as Controller or Sr. Accountant involving complex accounting transactions.
  • Accounting experience in a manufacturing industry is a must
