Deli Manager

Responsibilities:

• Write and manage employee schedules.
• Recruit, train, and manage deli department staff including ergonomics, food product knowledge, sanitation.
• Oversee the preparation and presentation of deli items, including sandwiches, salads, hot food items, and deli meats.
• Fulfill catering orders.
• Interact with customers to understand their needs, provide recommendations, and address inquiries or concerns in a friendly and professional manner.
• Uphold high standards of customer satisfaction and service excellence.
• Monitor inventory levels, place orders with suppliers as needed, and manage stock rotation to minimize waste and ensure freshness.
• Monitor temperature levels to preserve the freshness of deli products.
• Oversee the disposal of any waste or soiled items according to company procedures and sanitation guidelines.
• Conduct regular inventory counts and maintain accurate records of deli supplies.
• Plan and execute attractive displays of deli products, following merchandising guidelines and seasonal themes.
• Ensure signage is accurate and informative, highlighting specials, promotions, and product attributes.
• Develop and implement strategies to drive deli sales, including promotional events, sampling programs, and cross-selling initiatives.
• Manage the department budget actively and proactively by tracking expenses, monitoring labor costs, and identifying opportunities for cost savings and revenue growth.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the deli department, including equipment, workstations, utensils, and display cases.
• Adhere to food safety protocols and sanitation standards to ensure a safe and hygienic environment.
• Collaborate with team members to achieve department goals and maintain a smooth workflow.
• Report any safety hazards or incidents to the store management promptly.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in deli management or a supervisory role within a deli or food service environment is required.
• Ability to learn and implement appropriate sections of company safety rules, GMP, and SOP.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Basic math skills for tasks such as pricing and inventory counting.
• Reliable, punctual, and committed to customer service with a positive attitude.
• Able to work a variety of shifts including weekends, early mornings, evenings, and holidays.
• Able to work in temperature controlled or cold environments.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
