We are looking for a skilled Welder to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for welding, assembling, and installing piping systems used for plumbing applications in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. The Welder will work with various materials, such as steel, copper, and other metal alloys, ensuring all welds meet industry standards and project specifications. This role requires strong knowledge of both plumbing systems and welding techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Pipe Welding and Fabrication: Weld and fabricate piping systems for plumbing, heating, gas, and water applications using various techniques (MIG, TIG, Stick, Arc).
  • Installation of Plumbing Systems: Install, maintain, and repair plumbing systems by welding pipes and fixtures according to blueprints and project specifications.
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and layout diagrams to accurately measure, cut, and weld pipes.
  • Material Preparation: Prepare pipes by cutting, shaping, cleaning, and fitting materials for welding. Ensure proper pipe alignment before welding.
  • Weld Inspection and Quality Control: Inspect completed welds to ensure they meet safety and quality standards, and troubleshoot any defects or issues.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow OSHA safety regulations, including wearing proper PPE, ensuring workspaces are safe, and adhering to all relevant codes and standards.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with plumbers, pipefitters, and other tradespeople to ensure that all plumbing systems are installed and functioning properly.
  • Repairs and Maintenance: Perform welding repairs on existing plumbing systems, including pipes, fittings, and fixtures as necessary.
  • Documentation: Keep accurate records of work completed, including materials used and welding processes followed for future reference and inspection.

Requirements:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a vocational training program in welding or plumbing is highly preferred.
  • Experience: 1-5 years of experience as a welder, preferably with experience in plumbing or pipe welding.
  • Licensure/Certification: Welding certification (e.g., AWS) is required. Plumbing licenses or certifications are a plus.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficient in MIG, TIG, Stick, and Arc welding methods.
    • Strong understanding of plumbing systems and the ability to weld pipes for water, gas, and drainage systems.
    • Knowledge of various pipe materials, including copper, stainless steel, galvanized steel, and cast iron.
    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical diagrams.
    • Familiar with tools and equipment used in pipe welding and installation.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy materials, work in tight or confined spaces, and stand for extended periods. Capable of working in different environments, including indoor and outdoor settings.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong troubleshooting abilities to identify and fix issues in plumbing and piping systems.
  • Communication Skills: Good verbal communication skills to collaborate with other team members and supervisors.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Specialized experience with industrial plumbing systems (e.g., steam, HVAC, or high-pressure systems).
  • Additional certifications in pipe welding or advanced welding techniques.
  • Familiarity with local building codes and plumbing standards.

Work Environment:

  • Work Hours: Full-time position, with occasional overtime based on project demands.
  • Job Sites: Work is typically performed in construction environments, which may include residential, commercial, or industrial sites.
  • Safety Gear: Required to wear appropriate safety gear, including welding helmets, gloves, goggles, and protective clothing.
