Senior Cost Accountant – Central Houston


We're looking for a skilled Senior Cost Accountant to join our team in Central Houston This role offers generous benefits, including a matching 401(k) plan. We are a growing company with a revolutionary manufacturing concept that the market is embracing. Due to growth, we are adding a Senior Cost Accountant to our successful Accounting team as we expand across Texas.

Senior Cost Accountant Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and analyze accounting records and input financial data with accuracy.
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual COGS statements.
  • Develop and track cost standards, comparing them to actual performance and providing insights on variances.
  • Collaborate with teams to interpret financial data, proposing actions to cut costs and improve profitability.
  • Monitor commodity cost trends and assess short and long-term impacts on our cost structure.
  • Lead physical inventory counts and reconcile results with system data.
  • Manage the Capital Expenditure cycle, including bookkeeping, ROI analysis, approvals, and depreciation.
  • Support the Corporate Controller in preparing production plans, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Create and update SOPs for cost accounting, CapEx, and inventory management.
  • Ensure ERP production module accuracy for cost and inventory tracking.
  • Handle revenue recognition, warranty reserves, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Join operational management meetings to discuss cost and CapEx performance.
  • Participate in process improvement projects within the Finance team.
  • Summarize financial data and prepare profit & loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
  • Guide team members by answering questions and providing training as needed.
  • Support audits and ensure timely completion of property and tax filings.
  • Analyze intercompany accounts and support tax compliance needs.


Senior Cost Accountant Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in Cost Accounting within manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of accrual accounting (expense accruals, amortization, depreciation)
  • Strong background in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and QuickBooks or Microsoft BC.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and accuracy.
  • Knowledge of accrual accounting and tax compliance.
