Director of Urgent Care Department

 

Overview:

 

  • The Director of Urgent Care will monitor, assist, and oversee all clinical providers in the Urgent (Walk-In) Care Department.

  • The Director is responsible for all clinical processes and procedures performed. 

  • The Director will perform routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the offices of the physicians and other healthcare providers running smoothly.  The position is approximately 75% clinical and 25% administrative.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the supervision, control, and direction of physicians, advanced practice providers, medical assistants, and medical scribes in the Urgent Care Department.

  • Creating monthly provider schedules 

  • Working with the Clinical Nursing Supervisor to ensure proper staff training and job functions. 

  • Communication to all staff of pertinent clinical updates.

  • Training and on-boarding of new providers in the department.

  • Organize and coordinate provider meetings on a routine basis.

  • Attend Atracare administrative meetings.

  • Approve any new employees for hire in the department.

  • Ensure all charts for the providers of the department are closed within the specified time period (currently 48 hours).

  • Identify practice standards and areas for practice development.

  • Review Warning Letter (Write-Ups) of staff for appropriateness before the staff member is notified.

  • Participate in chart review towards ensuring standard of care, compliance and, furthermore, continuity of care by auditing 10% of provider charts.

 

Working Conditions:

 

  • The Director of Urgent Care will work in well-lighted, clean environments.

  • They constantly interact with other people and may have to handle several responsibilities at once.

  • The Director of Urgent Care will carry out their duties during normal business hours, 8A to 8P, 7 days a week.  Some work may take place on evenings, or weekends.
     

Training and Other Qualifications:

 

  • The Director of Urgent Care must be a graduate of an accredited school of medicine.

  • The Director of Urgent Care must be licensed and accredited by the state, if applicable and required by law.

  • Management experience preferred.  

  • Clinical experience required.

  • This is a full-time position that may require work between the hours of 8AM and 8PM, 7 days a week.

  • Being familiar with OSHA and HIPAA regulations.

  • Athena EMR training and experience a plus but not required.
