Job DescriptionJob Description

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Assistant Service Manager to join our established truck dealership, specializing in the service of new and used garbage trucks and other specialty vehicles. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of new diesel emission engine repairs, as well as a solid understanding of hydraulics and related electronics. This role primarily involves overseeing the service team, scheduling work, and providing estimates, with hands-on involvement required at times to ensure timely delivery and meet customer expectations. Strong communication skills and a commitment to exceptional customer service in a collaborative environment are essential.

 

Responsibilities:

- Manage daily service operations for customer trucks.

- Diagnose and repair garbage trucks and specialty vehicles, including emissions systems.

- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through effective communication and service delivery.

- Schedule work and provide accurate estimates for repairs and services.

- Train and mentor service staff to foster a cohesive and efficient team.

- Maintain accurate repair records using Excel and service software.

- Collaborate with the parts department to ensure timely availability of components.

- Coordinate with the truck sales team to assess service requirements for inventory units and establish timelines for the delivery of sold vehicles.

- Oversee quality control inspections for service work performed on customer trucks, rental and lease vehicles, as well as sold inventory units.

- Respond promptly and professionally to customer inquiries and concerns, ensuring a high standard of service.

 

Qualifications:

- Proven experience in truck repair and service management, particularly with garbage trucks and specialty vehicles.

- Familiarity with various truck brands, engine brands and software.

- Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.

- Strong organizational and communication skills.

- Quick learner with the ability to adapt to new software applications.

 

Compensation and Benefits:

- Competitive salary in the six-figure range, with a potential moving allowance for candidates relocating to the Tampa area.
