POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for performing welding and fitting work, utilizing Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) to assemble, fabricate, and repair components for the aerospace and manufacturing industries. This role requires reading and interpreting blueprints, specifications, and sketches, and using various hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform GMAW (MIG) and GTAW (TIG) welding on metals like aluminum, stainless steel, and carbon steel.
  • Fit and fabricate metal parts as per blueprints and specifications.
  • Use clamps, jigs, and fixtures to position and secure materials.
  • Prepare workpieces with grinders, cutting torches, and other equipment.
  • Verify work accuracy with tools such as calipers, micrometers, and rulers.
  • Inspect welds to ensure quality standards.
  • Repair or modify defective welds.
  • Maintain a clean and safe workspace.
  • Follow all safety protocols and regulations.
  • Accurately log work hours.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and departments.
  • Carry out other tasks as assigned by management.

REQUIRED SKILLS, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
A combination of education and experience that equips the individual with the necessary skills and knowledge for this role. Typical qualifications include:

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and GD&T.
  • Proficiency in GMAW and GTAW welding.
  • Basic math competency.
  • Manufacturing experience.
  • Familiarity with standards like AWS D1.1.
  • Must pass a WPQR.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong communication skills with management and team members.
  • Availability for varied shifts, overtime, and weekend work as needed.
  • Positive, collaborative attitude with a proactive approach.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Ability to support management in driving location performance.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Approximately 5% travel as needed.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Conditions may involve exposure to:

  • Moving mechanical parts, fumes, and airborne particles.
  • Vibration and potential electrical hazards.
  • Occasional exposure to caustic chemicals.
  • Moderate to loud noise levels.
  • Weekend work to meet operational demands.
  • Mandatory use of safety gear (e.g., eyewear and safety shoes).
