Schedule: 6:30am-3:00pm Monday – Friday

Payrate: $20.00-$25.00/hr Based on Experience

Peninsula Building Materials is a leading provider of masonry and construction materials, serving both residential and commercial customers. We are looking for a customer-focused Counter Sales Associate to join our team and contribute to our continued success.

Summary:

As a Counter Sales Associate, you will be the face of our company, interacting with customers, assisting them with their purchases, and providing exceptional service. This position requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Service

  • Greet and assist customers in a friendly and professional manner, in person and or over the phone
  • Answering phone calls and responding to customer inquiries promptly and professionally
  • Provide product information, product recommendations, answer questions, and assist customers in selecting the right materials
  • Processing sales transactions accurately and efficiently using our point-of-sale (POS) system
  • Handling cash, credit card, and other payment methods in accordance with company policies and procedures
  • Collaborating with other team members to ensure customer satisfaction and strive to exceed their expectations

Safety Compliance

  • Adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines to ensure a safe work environment
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work environment, including the counter area and product displays
  • Assist in promoting a culture of safety among all employees and customers

Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of inventory, and customer transactions
  • Report any discrepancies or incidents to the Yard Manager

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in retail sales, customer service, or a related field
  • Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and approachable demeanor
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • High Attention to detail, and data entry
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and multitask
  • Basic math skills and proficiency with cash handling

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with POS systems and computer proficiency
  • Previous Building Materials experience highly desired
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) – Not required but preferred
