Position Overview
The Career Development Manager plays a vital role in supporting community members to achieve sustainable employment and long-term career success. This position involves guiding trainees through the training process, addressing and resolving barriers such as accessing community health services, psychiatric services, educational programs, treatment options, and housing resources. The Specialist also monitors graduates’ adherence to program guidelines and their progress for up to one year post-employment, including conducting retention checks and providing support services as needed.
Key Responsibilities (Duties include but are not limited to the following:)
Career Readiness & Case Management
- Conduct comprehensive barrier assessments and collaborate with trainees to establish clear career development plans.
- Provide one-on-one mentorship sessions with trainees at least once weekly, addressing their career development goals and challenges.
- Ensure employment retention beyond 90 days through consistent follow-ups and support services.
- rack and support graduates for one year post-placement, addressing ongoing needs such as job replacement, transportation, or further training.
- Maintain thorough and accurate trainee records using organizational systems (SharePoint, Apricot database, etc.).
- Prepare reports, case notes, and other documentation to ensure compliance and demonstrate program impact.
- Refer participants to strategic partners and resources as necessary.
Training Development
- Actively participate in recruiting trainees ensuring that organizational enrollment metrics are achieved.
- Conducting community outreach to ensure the program is accessible to underserved populations.
- Build and sustain relationships with external agencies to facilitate workshops, training opportunities, and supportive resources for trainees and graduates.
- Conduct trainee orientations, interviews, and screenings to assess readiness and suitability for Power52 training programs.
- Guide trainees in developing career plans, identifying training/employment needs, and securing financial assistance for training.
- Address work-readiness barriers, providing resources and solutions to overcome challenges.
- Develop and deliver engaging Power Principle lesson plans and daily 30-minute Power Workshops for cohort trainees.
Impact Measurement
- Maintain and report on participant progress, including probation/expulsion logs, 1:1 assessments, and other performance metrics for management review.
- Ensure thorough documentation of participant activities and maintain compliance with program standards.
General Support
- Contribute to program reporting and grant applications as needed.
- Attend all required staff and management meetings.
- Actively collaborate with the team to enhance the program’s effectiveness.
- Volunteer at all community outreach events such as Pull Up & Pick Up, Operation Sleigh Bells, and Power52 LIVE fundraisers.
- All other duties as required.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum two years of case management experience with high-risk adults, including those with legal infractions, returning citizens, substance abusers, or individuals with gang affiliations.
- At least two years of program development experience.
- Proficient knowledge of workforce development programs and related resources.
- Skills:
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
- Ability to foster a cooperative work environment and build effective relationships with staff members and stakeholders.
- Time management proficiency and ability to meet deadlines.
- Capability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Other:
- Understanding of challenges faced by adults with legal or social barriers.
- Experience working collaboratively with probation officers and other relevant stakeholders.
- Ability to hit the ground running
