Role Summary:

The Vessel Shipyard Superintendent provides high-level technical support to various vessels, marine and waterfront projects.

Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

● Performs tasks on projects requiring a broad and/or deep knowledge in the field of structural, engineering and marine infrastructure.

● Implements design best practices in areas of expertise, in addition, ensures conformance with all applicable codes, standards, and client requirements; Ensure regulatory and class requirements are met

● Performs/oversees construction administration activities; develops budgets, timescales and specifications with clients and managers

● Performs site inspections and assess project requirements, producing and implementing designs and test procedures

● Maintaining and modifying equipment to ensure that it is safe, reliable and efficient; Manage and complete vessel repairs

● Performs and reviews calculations for analysis using computer-aided design/modelling software (AutoCAD, 3dMAX, Sketchup, Excel)

● Liaising with suppliers; Vet, select, coordinate, schedule, and pay vendors; Ensure vendor Quality Control and SMS conformance

● Providing advice and recommendations on technical and safety initiatives

● Identify and implement cost-saving measures

● Maintain an intimate knowledge of each vessel’s systems and status

● Maintain corporate databases as applicable to the Engineering Dept

● Measuring the performance of mechanical components, devices and engines

● Performs other duties as required.

● Ability to climb, crawl through various tanks and confined spaces.

● This position is a field position candidate will be working out in the field 90% of the time.

● Self-motivated, flexible, and able to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment

 

Qualifications

● Chief Engineers USCG License

● Must be able to pass a Drug Test

● Valid Driver’s License

● Computer proficiency in all Microsoft Office Programs

● Availability and ability to travel when required, including but not limited to interstate travel. 25% Travel.

● Self-motivated, flexible, and able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

● Ability to continuously stand or walk, bend, squat, climb stairs/ladders and lift loads of 50 lbs. frequently.
