Job Description – Maintenance Mechanic
Purpose:
This position is to provide effective leadership and hands on expertise for the overall management of the maintenance department. The Mechanic Manager will not only be a technical expert but will support and influence the efforts of other members of staff within the Company. The position requires skills in the mechanical realm, managing and developing people, delivering results across key performance metrics (including safety, quality, and cost), managing change, and driving continuous improvement. In addition to, maintain and repair all machinery or mechanical equipment in the plant. This job requires a broad range of experience on various types of equipment including automobiles, forklifts, tractors, cranes, trailers, production machinery, TraveLift, loaders, pick up trucks, lift trucks, etc. Also, includes knowledge of building structures and their mechanical, electrical, heating, air conditioning and sanitary systems.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Evaluate mechanical problems in heavy haul commercial vehicles and equipment.
2. Help evaluate minor mechanical problems, and inspect repairs completed.
3. Rebuild, replace, or repair major vehicle/equipment components, assemblies, and systems including engines, transmissions, suspensions, etc.
4. Check and repair electrical and cooling systems, and install heaters and similar accessories.
6. Estimate time and materials required to perform major repairs.
7. Analyze equipment performance and perform all preventative maintenance as needed.
8. Perform routine maintenance.
9. Maintain accurate, updated preventive maintenance records.
10. Operate tools, equipment, and machinery according to prescribed safety procedures.
11. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties.
12. Ensure shop, equipment, and tools are in safe operating condition.
13. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands for fine motor activity such as using manipulation of tools and parts while repairing large or small equipment. The employee is required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl for prolonged period of time. The employee must be able to frequently lift /or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision. The employee will also be required to be exposed to the elements for lengthy periods of time due to the nature of the work.

The Waco location was established in 1970 and is located on 200 acres north of Waco at Elm Mott. We produced the first Pre-stressed girders used by TxDOT in 1956 at the Victoria location and have been in continuous production of pre-stressed / precast products for the State of Texas and various municipalities since. We have a production capability of approximately 500,000 lineal feet of girders per year and we have been involved in several major research projects for FHWA, the State of Texas and the University of Texas.TCP's own comprehensive quality control program and engineering department assure customers of high quality, uniform products that are built to exceed customer specifications. TCP Quality Control personnel are fully certified by the Precast/Pre-stressed Concrete Institute (PCI).
