Transfer Admissions Counselor

Key Responsibilities:

As a Transfer Admissions Counselor, you will be instrumental in guiding prospective students towards a transformative educational experience by:

  • Evaluating applicant credentials for admission and conducting comprehensive assessments of transfer credit.
  • Representing Dominican University at college transfer fairs and local businesses, captivating prospective students with our exceptional programs and opportunities.
  • Engaging in on and off-campus events that showcase the unique Dominican University experience.
  • Initiating proactive student outreach and conducting personal appointments to address individual needs and aspirations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree a plus.
  • Previous experience in admissions is preferred.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Well-honed organizational and time management abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications and a knack for adapting to new technologies.
  • Willingness to embrace travel, including evenings, weekends, and overnight assignments.
  • Self-motivation, meticulous attention to detail, and a strong sense of personal accountability.
  • Familiarity with Slate and Jenzabar is a plus.
  • Fluency in Spanish is preferred, but not required.

Dominican University New York, located in Orangeburg, New York, is 17 miles north of New York City, with approximately 1,400 students and 400 faculty and staff.   There is a wide range of academic programs for students to choose from with more than 30 undergraduate and graduate programs in business, education, liberal arts, nursing, occupational therapy, organizational leadership and communication, and physical therapy. The independent, four-year, co-ed university was founded in 1952 by the Dominican Sisters of Blauvelt in the Catholic tradition. It is chartered by the Board of Regents of the University of the State of New York and fully accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. Dominican University New York has been named a College of Distinction, is designated a Hispanic Serving Institution, and is recognized as Military Friendly.
