About the Company:

Hazen Research, Inc. is an independent industrial research and development (R&D) company specializing in the mining, chemical, energy, and environmental industries worldwide since 1961. Our 17-building, 12-acre campus in Golden, Colorado, houses multiple laboratories and pilot plant facilities to support our R&D work across multiple disciplines. The facility is operated by a staff of over 130 engineers, chemists, technicians, and support personnel.

Technical Editor

We are looking for a detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Technical Editor. The Technical Editor ensures that all written materials are high quality and accurate. The successful candidate will have excellent writing, editing, proofreading, and page composition skills. The Technical Editor will review the work of our technical writers and collaborate as necessary to improve the clarity, conciseness, and consistency of the work while maintaining the author’s meaning and adhering to prescribed company style guidelines. The Technical Editor will create and maintain document templates and graphics to support company initiatives and will maintain our website. To be a successful Technical Editor at Hazen, you’ll also need to be well-organized, reliable, flexible, and have outstanding time management skills.

Responsibilities:

• Reviewing and revising written technical documents for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and adherence to style guidelines.

• Working with contributors to ensure document accuracy and clarity.

• Providing constructive feedback and advice to technical writers assisting their development as authors.

• Coordinating the flow of documents through the process towards delivery.

• Creating templates for technical writers that are easy to apply and adapt.

• Performing quality assurance on all printed documents, including brochures, advertisements, newsletters, marketing materials, etc.

• Supporting company marketing efforts and maintaining the company website.

Qualifications and Experience:

• A bachelor's degree in English or journalism.

• Strong attention to detail.

• Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and page composition skills.

• Proven experience as a technical writer working in a technical or scientific environment.

• Proven experience applying style guides. Experience with The ACS Style Guide is a plus.

• Expert skills using Microsoft 365 and Adobe Acrobat. Experience developing VBA macros is a plus.

• Experience with website content management. Experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is a plus.
